Our Tree Surgery Services
Frontier Tree Services utilise professional arboricultural pruning techniques to: Eliminate hazardous branches; Increase tree health and longevity; Reduce wind resistance. All pruning work is carried out to Australian Standard AS4373: 1996 Pruning of Amenity Trees, by fully trained and very experienced climbing arborists.

Formative Pruning
Young trees are pruned to eliminate future potential failure points such as weak branch unions and crossing branches. For a very small cost, we are able to significantly improve the long-term potential of your trees, possibly saving thousands of dollars in future works. The object of this work is to produce a tree that, in maturity, is free from major physical weakness.

Crown Thinning
Includes the removal of a proportion (not more than 30%) of secondary and small live branch growth throughout the crown of the tree to leave an open, well balanced crown structure. Damaged, dead, crossing and weak branches are removed (in this order of priority) first, followed by smaller live branches as required. The object of this work is to reduce wind loading on the tree crown, the completed work has the added bonus of increasing natural light below the tree.

Crown Lifting
The removal of lower branches to a specified height. The object of this work is generally to allow or ease access, either for pedestrians/cyclists or vehicles.

Remedial/restoration pruning
The removal of dead, damaged, decayed, diseased or dangerous branches, as well as the removal of unwanted epicormic shoots. The object of this work is to reduce the risk of falling branches.

Conservation/Habitat pruning
The creation of habitat by specialized pruning methods such as ‘coronet cuts’. These pruning techniques are especially important in an area like the Gold Coast, where many older habitat trees have been lost to development, and can be an excellent method of enticing arboreal creatures such as bats, sugar gliders, invertebrates and birds, back into over-developed areas. There are conflicts with health and safety issues, and clients must be aware of these issues prior to undertaking these works.
