About Frontier Tree Services - Gold Coast Tree Removal Consultants

Our philosophy has grown from the simple notion that trees are essential components of life, and that people and trees can and should live together harmoniously.

Why care for trees?

  • Trees are the most massive, longest living organisms ever to grow on earth. Australia is home to the tallest flowering species of tree in the world. The Mountain Ash (or Eucalyptus regnans) has been recorded at 130 metres, and is second only to the Giant Redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) for the tallest tree on the planet!
  • Trees have their own beauty and without their ‘softening’ qualities, colour (of foliage, bark and flower) and stature, our cities, towns and villages would be particularly bleak places.
  • Trees act as natural air-conditioners. Not only do they provide shade, the natural evaporation of water from their leaves cools and freshens the air around them. This knowledge has been utilised for centuries, with trees planted along roadsides and in parks in many of the worlds great cities (Bangkok; Kathmandu; Luang Prabang; Paris; Bath; Boston; Amsterdam and Vienna to name a few)
  • Trees significantly reduce wind-speeds (over a distance up to 20 times their height), while conversely buildings actually produce greater winds (by forcing the air around them).
  • Trees absorb pollutants like Carbon dioxide and Sulphur dioxide, and release Oxygen. It is calculated that a mature Oak tree ‘fixes’ or ‘locks down’ about 18kg of CO2 a year. Faster growing trees like eucalypts would absorb more.
  • Trees are effective absorbers of noise. A well designed “Tree Belt” alongside a motorway reduces ‘noise pollution’ significantly.
  • Trees prevent or reduce storm water run-off and soil erosion.
  • Trees (especially older trees) are essential habitat for many species of mammals, birds, reptiles and invertebrates. The reduction in numbers of many species indigenous to this area of South-East Queensland is directly attributable to the clearing of trees for development sites.
  • Trees reduce stress in people, making them happier, calmer, more relaxed and therefore more productive.
  • Trees are good for the economy. Properties that are populated with mature trees are generally priced higher than those of a comparable size without trees; Shoppers linger longer on tree lined streets than on barren, empty ones. A mature tree population gives an area a feeling of history, community and continuity.
  • Trees may help fight crime!! Studies in the US have shown that, in inner city apartment buildings, those with less greenery were more likely to have a higher crime rate than those apartment blocks that were well treed.

The dollar value of all of these factors is incalculable. The question “Why Care For Trees?” becomes nonsense, and should be answered by another question: “Why would we not care for trees?”

Frontier Tree Services have been committed to the care and maintenance of trees in the operation of their tree removal consultancy since their inception. We employ only skilled, professionally trained arborists for this work. Our mission is to preserve trees in as many instances as we can, without compromising on the safety of the public. We can provide solutions to most tree-related problems, but we understand that the urban environment is inhospitable and that in the past, scientific knowledge in relation to tree care was not available. As a result of this lack of knowledge, coupled with the extremes of conditions, some trees will die, some will become diseased, some will be vandalized, and some trees are structurally deficient or hazardous. Sometimes in these cases, pruning or other kinds of remedial work is not sufficient to make a tree safe, and there is no option but to remove it.
